ACTIVITIES AND OTHER EXPERIENCE

URBAN WORKSHOP VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTOR

Urban Workshop is a makerspace in Orange County. They offer classes in machining, electronics, and other fabrication techniques to their members. I volunteered to write and teach an introductory class in using National Instruments' LabVIEW software and the Virtual Bench tool. I have been teaching the class since March 2017.

FRIENDS OF ORANGE COUNTY DETAINEES

Friends of Orange County Detainees is a volunteer organization that works to support immigrants to the US who have been detained. As a volunteer I visit detainees who are being held in local prisons. The visits help boost the detainees' morale, as they can often be detained for over 6 months. I visit primarily francophone detainees because I speak a little French. I also write letters and send dictionaries to the detainees. I have been volunteering since March 2017.

ATHLETICS

I try to keep busy tackling different athletic challenges. In 2015 I completed the Trifecta of Spartan Races, which are obstacle races at varying distances from 3 miles to 10 miles. In 2016 I ran 2 marathons in Reykjavik, Iceland and Portland, Oregon. Now in 2017 I am trying to hike around Southern California.
